Mechanism & Testing Applications
Collagen is one of the commonly used agonists in platelet function testing. When the vascular endothelium is injured and subendothelial collagen is exposed, it can promote platelet adhesion, activation and aggregation. CL385 is used to induce collagen-related platelet responses in vitro, for platelet function testing and secretion (release) studies in whole blood and platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
In platelet function testing, collagen is typically tested separately from other agonists such as ADP, arachidonic acid and epinephrine, to observe platelet responses across different activation pathways. Ristocetin, by contrast, is used mainly for ristocetin-induced platelet aggregation and von Willebrand factor–related assessment, and works through a different mechanism. CL385 should be used according to its approved instructions for use, together with compatible Chrono-Log platelet aggregation systems and appropriate testing procedures.
This content describes only the principles of platelet aggregation testing and the product's approved intended use; it is not intended as clinical diagnosis, test-result interpretation or treatment recommendations for any individual patient. The performance, applicable specimens, methods of use, limitations and precautions of CL385 are governed by the labeling and instructions for use approved under Taiwan medical device license no. 014793 (衛署醫器輸字第014793號).
